      Hi Guys
After struggling for a HUGE amount of time on the problem of limiting the speed of my LAN traffic, I finally got my head around this and wrote a guide to do exactly this, LIMIT LAN TRAFFIC.

You can read the full instruction here:
      https://aubreykloppers.wordpress.com/2015/07/23/pfsense-throttling-by-ip-base-the-definitive-guide/
Enjoy and if you get to Cape Town, please buy me a beer :)

as a last note: This is going to p >:( ss more than a couple of people off, so make sure you can take the punch  ;D

When you pause to think, do you start again?

As a suggestion, you might want to include screencaps along with the text lists of what you're setting.  A picture worth a thousand words and all that.

Since you are masking on source address it will create separate pipes for each IP address, each getting the limit, not sharing the limit.  If that's what you're after, cool.

Regarding pictures/screen captures, I only do them on the forum for expediency.  If I was doing a writeup like that I'd follow this:

                  https://doc.pfsense.org/index.php?title=Wiki_Style_Guide

                  Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA
A comprehensive network diagram is worth 10,000 words and 15 conference calls.
DO NOT set a source address/port in a port forward or firewall rule unless you KNOW you need it!

Yeah, what's up with this?  You do realize that the vast majority of us aren't ESF staff here, right?  That we're just normal users who try to help others for free out of our spare time?

The entire subject matter of this thread is pretty pedestrian for someone of your credentials.  No need to struggle for a HUGE amount of time to set up a simple limiter.

Actually, the comment by KOM and my reply has nothing to do with the LIMITER but with SQUID…

Is there a particular reason you didn't address my last comment?  You're not going to make many friends here if that's the way you treat people who try to help you, and slamming ESF/pfSense because I couldn't come up with a fix for your squid problem is just unfair and unnecessary.
