      See pic http://mccls.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/2013-05-03-16.21.54.jpg

When I boot the 64bit live cd or memstick I get the countdown menu titled "Welcome to pfSense!" Regardless what ever I select the menu stays put on the screen. Text doesn't scroll past as it boots. Instead the bottom line flashes different lines of text too fast for me to read. Then it stop flashing, but I'm not presented with a new menu. It just hangs.

By booting to the i386 version, I was able to see what the menu options were and then knew to try to press I to continue the installer and F10 to refresh the screen. I then returned to the 64bit and waited for it to hang. I pressed I and was able to start the installer but the next screen was garbled as well, and F10 had mixed results. After fiddling with it for some time, I did get it to install to the hard drive. I removed the installer media and rebooted, but upon first boot I had the exact same issue where the menu stays put, and the bottom line of text flashes until it hangs with the stupid "Welcome to pfSense!" menu and the one line at the bottom, "IPsec: Initialized Security Association Procession….". I assume that there is another menu that I'm not seeing.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that this "Welcome to pfSense!" menu appears to be a buggy with the 64bit installers.

I would really like to get the 64bit version working. But I'm on a time crunch and I may need to install the 32bit version.

It's specific to your hardware. Something in your BIOS or Motherboard, to be specific.

The 64-bit installer works fine on every bit of hardware, real or virtual, that we've thrown it at.

That said, there's not much compelling people to use 64-bit unless they have (and really need) more than 4GB of RAM.
