There's a nice beep script in pfSense which plays on the speaker when bootup is complete. Also there's a beep when somebody logs in the webgui.

But not on Supermicro A1SRi-2758f! This board is muted…
It does have an onboard speaker which works because it beeps at bios POST. But there's no beep coming out of pfSense.

I double-checked, the "Disable the startup/shutdown beep" in System: Advanced: Notifications is NOT ckecked.

I didn't pfsense has such feature.  I never heard any sound after the BIOS boot beeps.  It would be nice to get this to work.

Oh yes it does have the beep feature for years!
I keep my fingers crossed that the beep will be looked at on A1SRi-2758f, since this also powers the biggest rack unit from pfSense Store.

I just got new hardware as well and I too am not hearing any start up and shut down beeps. I do not have the box checked to disable the sounds. Any ideas?

Got to the BIOS and activate the POST, so during the boot phase the BIOS will doing a Power on self test
and you will hear the beep. Because this is done before any kind of OS is starting, pfsense could not involved
                in this process as well.

This is NOT about POST beeps, but the sound pfSense plays through the speaker after it finishes booting up, and before halting/restarting when issued by the administrator. This tune is not played by Supermicro boards for some reason.
It's also not played by the HP t5730 Thin Clients I also have running pfSense on, but strangely I was not able to get Linux to make any sound using the "beep" command either.
