Settings long loading times
-
Lately my pfsense router has been taking extremely long loading times when making changes in the settings. Like changing NAT rules, adding port aliases, switching what to do with logs, etc. navigating is quick, changing stuff, not so much.
I'm using an old intel CPU with a CF card connected to an IDE port.
Is it possible that I've done some setting to make it this way or is maybe my hardware failing?

Running 2.2.3 or cheapy CF ?
Use 2.2.4 recommended. -
I'm using an old intel CPU with a CF card connected to an IDE port.
- Is there enough free RAM?
- Is the CF card booted as read only medium?
- Do you try out to activate a DMA mode or another DMA mode as now?
- Do you try out perhaps a IDE DOM with 4 GB or 8 GB
Is it possible that I've done some setting to make it this way or is maybe my hardware failing?
What exactly hardware do you using here in this thread?
CF cards would at one day even all failing perhaps you only have to insert a new one.
Also perhaps a greater one then now, with more free space and a faster one on top?in version 2.2.2 there is a odd problem or fault write cycles to the file system, perhaps you
should be changing to 2.1.5 or 2.2.3 or 2.2.4 this is not caused by that fault. -
No. not the 2.2.3 ;)

What versions of pfsense and what version did you come from if you are noticing the speed drop since upgrading to a new version?

I'll try to answer all of your questions.
The CF card if a Kingston Type 1 Compact Flash 4GB card. their "standard" series. I've had it for abou 16 months, never used for anything other than pfsense. Haven't done much settings.
I've been running for 6-12 months with no difference in hardware, it's been running more smoothly earlier with the load times. I'm using an old E6550 Intel CPU.
It's been atleast both on 2.2.3 and 2.2.4. I know this since the problems were even before latest update. I can't say if it was still in 2.2.2 or the problems arose after that. I just know that it wasn't more than maybe 2 months I didn't have these problems. It's not a problem in the BIOS, since the problem arose lately. The CF card is not in read-only since saved settings persist through reboots.
If there was a problem in release 2.2.2 is it possible that the update.
