Cannot boot from SSD
-
Hi guys,
I recently purchased one Mini-ATX like this: http://www.hystou.com/products/fanless-computers/fmp02-1037u-mini-pc/barebone-fanless-mini-computer-desktop-pc-intel-celeron-1037u-htpc-alloy-case-with-usb30-1084.htmlI am trying to install pfsense 2.2.4 from a memory stick. I boot from the memory stick and choose to install, all steps run ok and after it finishes installing and reboots, when i remove the usb stick it doesn't boot from the SSD, it restarts and gives me f1 option to boot pfsense, but if i press f1 it reboots.
Anyone else ran into this problem? -
Hello,
was the SSD in AHCI mode?

Anyone else ran into this problem?Did you change the boot option to 'boot from SSD' after you remove the memory stick?

@BlueKobold:
Hello,
was the SSD in AHCI mode?
Yes, it was in AHCI mode.
The weird thing is, i tried installing CentOS and it worked fine. I only have this problem with pfsense memstick :(

Would you please try it out with a full install from CD please I think you could be getting more benefits from that.
Try out 2.1.5 is based on FreeBSD 8.3
and
2.2.2 is based on FreeBSD 10.1
2.2.3 is based on FreeBSD 10.1
2.2.4 is based on FreeBSD 10.1Turning off in the BIOS all things such USB Ports or what ever you will not need!
And then try it out once more again please.Another try out to see if this could be a FreeBSD related thing, you can also try booting FreeNAS or FreeBSD also.
Perhaps the FreeBSD and FreeNAS are booting fine and so you are able to narrow down that it is something related
to the pfSense it selfs and then near down what kind of version it will be.Install a 2.1.5 and it works fine, would make you "only" to upgrade then to 2.2.x if you want, perhaps this will be
running then pfSense liquid and smooth. -

Hello again NickM,
I am sorry to bug you once more again, related to my really bad english language skills
I am a bit disorientated now! Did you solve out the problem and installed it on the SSD?
Or was you not able to install it on the SSD?Thanks for the advice, but all i had to do is change it from AHCI to IDE and it worked.
Till this text I was thinking it was running fine and you got installed it on the SSD.
For some reason with AHCI enabled after i would finish installing and remove the stick while selecting to boot from SSD it would not.
And now I am thinking it was not running for you to install it on the SSD.
Can you please give me a hint to do also so likes you?
