Connecting to the pfsense computer.

The tutorials I am following are a but fuzzy pn one part in particular, the configuration of the device connecting to the pfsense computer. I could use some help conceptualizing this.
So here's my setup in theory:
I have a computer with a wireless network card and 2 ethernet ports. One port is hooked up the modem. The other port is hooked up to a switch.
Install pfsense as normal, follow the steps, configure and assign a custom local Area Network IP.My problem:
Around this part of the setup all these tutorials will just jump to saying "now on a client PC connect to this LAN IP in a web browser…." yet they don't explain HOW that client IP is connected or associated with the pfsense PC.
I assume the client PC is connected via the switch the pfsense computer's LAN is hooked into. Is that correct? Since wireless isn't enabled until you login to the pfsense computer and configure it. -
