PfSence in a DMZ instead of PPOE ?
-
Hello,
Because I have a problem using PPOE with my modem configured as bridge mode, I would like to know if it is possible to setup the modem as normal mode, and the pfSence in DMZ that will receive everything.
Something like this :
Internet –-- modem 192.168.0.1 ---- 191.168.0.2 pfSence DMZ 192.168.42.1 ---- my home network.
What do you think of this setup ?
Thanks.

That depends on what does "DMZ" mean for the modem.

I hope that means that every external request on port X is forwarded to pfSence.
So I have to test the concept.
Anybody have already try this configuration ?

Unfortunately, as robi mentioned it's going to depend completely on your modem - Make, Model, and probably your ISP as well.
Without that info, we have no idea what interpretation of "DMZ" you're dealing with.

On consumer grade modem +adsl what op says it's true at least in my limited experience.
