Hardware Question
-
Thank you in advance.
I have been wanting to put together a pfSense box for some time. Now I have some extra cash and some spare parts.
I have a AMD 940 BE with 4 Gigs of DDR2 800 that need a new home.
I was thinking the rest of this for the set up.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811154087I guess what I should ask is if there are any hardware issues.
I plan on loading Snort at least, but will most likely load whatever I can reasonably run that seems interesting.
My wan connection is only 25/5 and I don't think I've ever come close to maxing it out. Thanks again!

You can get a dual port pcie nic for less than $30 at eBay.
-
You may need to 2.1 to get drivers for that on-board RTL8111 NIC.
I can't see anywhere if it says those Intel NICs come with a half height back plate. You will need that to fit in that slim case.Steve

I hadn't thought of that. Thank you Stephenw10.
I don't intend to use the onboard chip for anything. Will that be a problem? -
No. You can leave it unassigned or just ignore it if the drivers don't recognise it. You can probably disable it in the bios anyway.
