I have seen an update on my NanoBSD Firewall for a while, I have been afraid to update it for the shear reason that my box is working great.  Should I attempt to update? what would I expect if I do update?

I have never ran an update as yet on my Firebox, so I am as you can imagine on the fence over this.  Any suggestions?

    PFSense System Specs.

    4 CPUs: 1 package(s) x 4 core(s) 4 port HP Branded Intel Ethernet Card

      Three suggestions:
Always make pfSense config copies (backup config) - even when you are not planning to upgrade.
Be ready to install or reinstall your CURRENT pfSense version on your device (drives always die, the question is 'when') - even when you are not planning to upgrade
If you see if an update is available, just wait, check out this forum and look for messages like "Does the latest version works on your device". If nothing pops up in a couple of weeks, your safe to upgrade.

If thins go bad, just reinstall with the version before - apply config and you're up.

No "help me" PM's please. Use the forum, the community will thank you.
Edit : and where are the logs ??

I would like to add this about NanoBSD. Your pfSense install only uses one slice(partition) and has a backup on slice 2. So when you upgrade -if things go horribly wrong, you can go back to the old slice with your old pfSense. (On bootup screen pick kernel #2)
There is a separate slice with the config folder which does not get overwritten on a proper upgrade. You can manage your NanoBSD slices from the GUI as well.

That said. I like to remove my working CF and use a disk imaging program to make an IMG file backup incase I need to restore all.
        Especially with complex setups.

Generally speaking, update = more secure.
Depending on what version you are actually, this can be some work. The jump from 2.1.x to 2.2.x on a firebox requires some attention… once past 2.2, the impact is quite small. You should at least check out these threads:

Use the search functionality of the forum, there is lots of info to find.

Thanks for the info guys, I did read the install upgrade sticky, did look around a bit also…

I am running 2.2.2 as of now, I need to find a time to pull the CF and create an image of it, just to be safe.

I appreciate your time and answers.
