So trying to figure out what all this means.

My Service Provider has cat 5 going to their router.  I want to plug this into the WAN port and bypass their router.  If it a works I should be able to get a dhcp address for my WAN Nic.  This would then mean my WAN is my Gateway?

      Thanks

no not in how pfsense uses that gateway would be on isp side of your connection and a different ip than your wan ip

pfsense plus 25.03 super micro A1SRM-2558F

So if I connect directly to my service provider, my gateway would be in the dhcp request and I'd set the WAN gateway to none?

          Thanks

If you're assigning an IP via DHCP then you don't need to specify anything.
