Uninstalling bind removes nsupdate
-
Just a heads up; if you install then uninstall bind, it will also remove nsupdate (/usr/local/bin/nsupdate) which will silently break rfc2136 dyndns updates.
-
You installed it manually via pkg install, or what?
-
Manually in the sense of System->Package Manager->Available Packages -> Bind.
-
Hmmm… cannot see this being removed anywhere in the package files, nor in the PBI shit.
-
It definitely not there after uninstall. Could you try it to confirm?
-
As said, this doesn't happen here. There is absolutely no mention of nsupdate in the PHP/XML (GUI) part of the package. I checked the PBI install/deinstall scripts and cannot see how that happens there either. All the stuff is being done under the /usr/pbi/bind-$arch prefix.

2.2.4-RELEASE][admin@cassis]/root: find / -iname nsupdate /usr/local/bin/nsupdate /usr/pbi/bin/nsupdate /usr/pbi/bind-amd64/local/bin/nsupdate /usr/pbi/bind-amd64/bin/nsupdate [2.2.4-RELEASE][admin@cassis]/root: ls -la /usr/local/bin/nsupdate lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 32 Sep 26 00:32 /usr/local/bin/nsupdate -> /usr/pbi/bind-amd64/bin/nsupdate
– at which point I login into web ui and delete bind package.
[2.2.4-RELEASE][admin@cassis]/root: find / -iname nsupdate [2.2.4-RELEASE][admin@cassis]/root: ls -la /usr/local/bin/nsupdate ls: /usr/local/bin/nsupdate: No such file or directory

Sorry, NFC. File a bug at Redmine, would need PBI rebuild anyway, not fixable with the package code.
