New build, advice appreciated

Upgrading from a Soekris 5501-70 to aa Netgate 2440, I added a Crucial mx200 250g msata and atheros WLE200NX mpcie.

I am planning on putting snort on the router.

With it's 4gb built in and my 250gb, what is the best way to install Pfsense and use all this router's resources best?

I need steps to be honest, still a novice.

Should I install Pfsense on the embedded 4gigs and use the msata for snort data, should I install everything on the msata hard drive?

I don't know if it really matters that much. The real question might boil down to log volume. Leaving the base install on the 4GB and any extra storage required for squid cache, snort logs or whatever other package data targets you want on the SSD.

No, you most certainly should NOT install Snort or any similar package on "embedded" box. Use the FULL install and spare yourself heaps of trouble.

TY for the reply and advice. I wasn't intending to install embedded and only full. Just wanted to know how to break up the installation.
