      Hello community,
I just recently purchased a new 60GB SSD for my pfsense, but I am having trouble with the installation. I downloaded a new 2.2.4 AMD64 Live CD with Installer (on USB Memstick)GZ file, then checked the MD5 checksum to make sure the file wasn't corrupt during the downloading. After checking the checksum, I 7-zipped the GZ file into an IMG file onto a USB. Next, I plugged the USB my pfsense box, checked BIOS to make sure the USB was primary, then booted up the box. After BIOS runs, I recieve an error message: Pxe-e61 error media test failure check cable. I tried plugging the USB into all of the ports on the pfsense box, but each time I recieve the same error message and then it displays No Bootable Device Found. Any ideas what could be the problem? Thanks for you help!

I believe what I am doing wrong is that after 7-zip unzips the GZ file, it is only a IMG file and not an ISO. I tried using PowerISO to convert the IMG file I unzipped, to an ISO file; however I keep recieving this error message: The file format is invalid or unsupported. What am I doing wrong here?

          Hi There ThatNoobGuy,

You can use Rufus to burn a IMG file to a USB stick, this worked well for me: http://www.askvg.com/rufus-yet-another-free-portable-tool-to-create-bootable-usb-drive-to-install-windows-and-linux/

          Best of luck,
