Axiomtek na-342

the na-340L features a pair of giga lan port bypass…was there any issue on this..how long have you been using it

720 have this feature, but 340 I do not know, but I did not use the bypass in pfsense environment

I installed pfSense Version 2.2 successfully on Axiomtek NA342.

8GB USB Stick with pfSense-memstick-serial-2.2-RELEASE-amd64.img with Win32DiskImager to USB 3.0 stick
4GB CF card into NA342, 4GB RAM
NA-342 with serial console (115200 boud) booted into BIOS setup
USB stick as boot medium on USB 3.0 Port
booted pfSense from USB stick
selected install
manual configuration
except smaller swap space everything default
selected serial kernel (no vga)
removed stick, booted CF Card
all working as expected

Hi!

I got the first na-342 for 239,00 EUR (excl. VAT, 2.10.2014) from Axiomtek Germany.

The second one for 289,83 EUR (exckl. VAT, 26.10.2015) from OCTO24.

The price is with delivery, without RAM and without CF/HDD.

Also I have attached a picture form the 2014 version. There is mSATA and the CFLASH and RAM is on the backside.

Both are now running in hardware redundancy (CARP). The main reasons for the Axiomtek boxes where the power consumption, 4xGBIT interfaces and the AES-NI instructionset.

An alternative is always the PC Engines APU1D4 for ca. 200 EUR (without AES-NI).

Wow, that is really cheap to get the hands on this device, I am really impressed!

And this is why I am was asking for the detailed price, I found the Axiomtek NA-342 only
available from this seller named Octo24 and he is selling this device only for 399,00 €
at his eBay shop and his Yatego Shop!

Ok there for I can live with that, I was thinking on a miniPCIe WiFi card and a
Samsung840 Pro SSD with 120 GB or a mSATA.

Not really, because the are assembling a APU2 (APU2B4) Board that is in the "Beta phase" and should
comes out in the next year, AES-NI, Intel GB LAN Ports Intel (i211AT on apu2b2, i210AT on apu2b4),
4 GB ECC RAM and 4 CPU Cores. Here is a Link where you are able to see some pictures of the new board.

If it is not too much for you I have also a couple of questions about this NA-342 appliance.

How much fast is your Internet connection? And how good the NA342 is handling it?
How many packets you have installed? Snort, Squid, SquidGuard, DansGuardian, HAVP, SARG, Apinger,…..
Can you provide a number of throughput for any kind of VPN?
Are you using WiFi or did you install a mSATA?

I use the NA342 in the server center. no NAT, public IPs, VPNs, router with port filter, 50mbit symmetric, no packets installed

when transfering files via wget, there is no difference if the NA342 is in between (different network segments / VLAN / just routing). ~ 112MB/s
OpenVPN (aes-128-CBC, BSD Crypto engine) is getting full speed: 4,5MB/s (35% processor utillisation), without VPN I get also 4,5MB/s (whicht is the current bandwith 50mbit)
no Wifi, no mSATA, using CF in the first and SSD in the second NA342.
