Jetway Intel daughter board issue
-
Hi,
I'm fairly new to pfsense, and have been building my own appliance using a Jetway NC9C-550-LF. Everything seems to working fine apart from one issue. I have installed a 3 nic Intel daughter board (AD3INLANG-LF) but neither the motherboard or pfsense sees the additional card/nics.
Has anyone else experienced the same problem? Is it an incorrect card, or are bios changes/drivers required? Thanks,
Greg -
I believe there are different buses used in the daughterboard header series. Same physical pinouts just Gen1 and Gen. 2. They are incompatible so maybe more than just bus signaling..The QM-77 board takes the newer Gen. 2 expansion I know.

The jetway pages shows Gen. 1 on expansion
http://www.jetwaycomputer.com/NC9C.html
Your expansion card shows part number AD3INLAN-G on that page. You have -LF model. Is it right?

I would make sure its connected good if not seen in bios. Also make sure your module is positioned on the header correctly. -
Hi, thanks for your help.
Yeah, the label on the board denotes -LF
If I insert an active Ethernet cable the connection light come on, but that is about it.
I will try and re-seat it again and see if that helps.

nstalled a 3 nic Intel daughter board (AD3INLANG-LF)
Is based on the Intel 82541 PI and this would be working well, please make also
sure that the pins are not bend or deviated and that there is no dust between the
connector and the pins, then we would search for ever. One of the best options I have seen on this behavior is the following:
If you are on pfSense 2.2.4- Do a Backup
- save your configuration file
- turn the daughter board out
- disconnect and reconnect the daughter board
(if not please read the manual about this board, perhaps a jumper must be pulled or a DIP
must be driven to activate the daughter board right or that it gets recognized by the BIOS) - Have now a look in the BIOS of the Mainboard and see if it get recognized
- do a fresh and full install of the pfSense 2.2.4

Hi BlueKobold,
Yeah, thanks for the advice. Will try what you have suggested and see how I get on. I have also looked at the manual, but it is fairly light on detail :'( but will have another look as well.
Thanks for your help.

I would be tempted to do a Windows install on a spare device to see how it shows up there, Perhaps there is a bridge chip which is not supported. I dunno. With a RJ45 led lit I would have to troubleshoot software first then walk back from that. Maybe a Ubuntu LiveCD would show the device..

So it has worked with pfSense.

Wow. Ok, it's now working. ;D ;D ;D ;D I can see the Realtek on board nics and now the Intel ones. Here is an extract of the pciconf -lv output:
