Alternatives to the APU?
-
Can anybody recommend any alternatives to the APU boards? I'm happy with the apu's, but I'm less than happy with the cheap looking & feeling case, and the cheap heat spreader. I'm looking for something out there in the $200 price range. We use these for managed routers & vpn gateways for customers. I probably install two or three a month, so being readily available is important.
I played around with the ubiquiti routers for a bit, but I was less than impressed with the interface. Maybe I'm just used to pfsense after so many years.
Anyways, thanks for any input!

I suggest you buy from pfSense or Netgate.

Not the VPN module for sure because it it based on the Intel QuickAssist which is not inserted
in the pfSense code now, the others work like expected as normal LAN Ports (NIC modules)
with Intel NICs. Their appliances generally working great together with pfSense since a long
time period, as you can read here; Axiomtek NA-810A/BOr if you mean not the module bays but more the LED lights you could ask in this thread here
where someone is using the both variants of the NA342 together as a cluster, one with Intel
