Web configurator dying

Hello,

I have installed pfSense-LiveCD-2.1-RC0-amd64-20130725-1629.iso into vmware fusion Version 3.1.4 (683826).  I have also installed an image a couple of weeks ago in vmware fusion 5 on a completely different system.  Here is the problem:

1. during the setup wizard, the webconfigurator stops responding.
2. at odd, (non-reproducable levels), the web configurator stops responding.

the only fix is to restart the web configurator at the command line.

Here are the relevent lines in the system.log file:

Almost all of the logs in /var/log appear to be binary, including the lighttpd.log file, so I can't really discern more about the problem.  If there is a php debug mode I can operate in, I can send more feedback.
