SKY Fiber Broadband
-
Hi GUys,
I have been trying to setup my pfsense box so it will work with my sky fiber. When I signed up I got the SR102 which is not the best router in the world. SO I managed to obtain a BT openreach vdsl modem. I have followed the steps from http://www.m0rph3us.co.uk/blog/2013/05/03/sky-fibre-unlimited-pfsense/#comment-17028 but I have still not had any joy. Has anyone recently set this up and if so how on gods green earth have you managed it?Thanks

I have Zen broadband, I had an old Draytek router that I had to put into pass thought mode (I think) so I would imagine you'd have to do the same with your SR102. Then you enter your sky connection details for the WAN interface on pf. However, in the link provided there's no mention of connecting the 2 devices….

Hi Jumble.
Did you have any luck in getting this to work? I signed up for Sky Fiber Pro yesterday so I've been trying to research what options I have to keep my pfSense box but get rid of the terrible sr102 I'm currently using.
I have my eye on an unlocked Openreach Modem on eBay; and I've also extracted my current username / password from it using Wireshark so I'm hoping it'll be a quick switch over once I'm live.

Sorry I don't understand. I have FTTH on the NBN in Australia and we just connect the WAN port on the router to the configured port on the NTD.
Why do you need a modem for a fibre service?

Hi.
This is slightly different in that it's not FTTH, but FTTC so it's a VDSL modem. Sky UK now provide a combined router / modem sr102 so to use your own router (pfSense or otherwise) you still need the modem.

Im having issues with my Draytek Vigor 130 and PFsense. are you able to show me what settings you have on the Vigor 130 as i cant seem to get a Wan Connection.
it works perfectly using the Sky Black SR102 also and just got Fiber.
I also set the WAN connection to DHCP and added the DSL login details to "DHCP Client Configuration" > "Advance" > "Send Options" like you posted on the firm above.
if you could send me screen shots of the Vigor 130 so i can match up the settings that would be epic.
Thanks
EDIT: I have atached Images Below of my current settings hope this helps.

Thanks for the Reply,
Can i ask at the Mac Address are you using the Mac address from the SKY SR102?
Secondly do i have the details Typed correctly in the "Lease Requirements And Request" correct:
dhcp-client-identifier(Space)"username@skydsl(NO-Space)|(NO-Space)password"

Yes the MAC address is from the SKY SR102, I'll double check the DHCP Client Identifier but that should be correct.
The first time I did this it took 5 minutes to pick an IP, so be patient, but after that it picks up an IP almost immediately.

I found out what my issues was.
I was using the same Mac address on both the Wan interface of the Draytek and the Wan interface on PFsense, even though i cleared it out from PFSense. i just added a few digits to PFSense and its all up and working.
Thanks again Exolon!!!
