Is this setup good enough for Gigabit?
-
Good evening,
I have pfSense (latest stable version) running on:
Installed packages:
Recently, ISP i am on started offering Gigabit (down) 50mbit (up), and i am planing to upgrade from 320/25.
Is this setup going to be enough or i should consider building stronger pFsense box?
Thanks!

Looks like my setup is not worth any comment, probably its time to upgrade :o
:) Thanks all anyway, appreciate the help.

For 320/25 it would be enough power.

Thanks for responding :)
Yep, works fine for 320/25, but, i am actually asking about Gigabit, as i am thinking to upgrade soon.
Is it time to upgrade? - If so, what would be recommended? ( It doesn't have to be anything tiny + i don't care how much power it consumes)
Thanks

What are your network cards?
-
Intel Gigabit.
Thanks

In real I would assume that you should at first get your 1 GBit/s WAN link from the ISP
and then you will have a quite look what your actual pfSense boy is able to do for you!And then you can start with a number of what your actual appliance is able to realize!
All other things are guesswork.(It doesn't have to be anything tiny + i don't care how much power it consumes)
- Intel Celeron G3260T @3,2GHz on a mini ITX board with 8 GB RAM and a Intel Dual or Quad Port NIC

What kind of CPU usage do you see during a sustained transfer with your current connection?
-
Around 30-32%
Thats what i was thinking … that i could be fine for a Gigabit, but, then if its maxed out (Cpu) i don't like that.
Should be at least some room :P
