      Hi,

I was trying to install "pfSense-2.2.6-RELEASE-4g-i386-nanobsd.img.gz" onto a brand new 8GB CF card for an Alix.2D3.  It does not seem to boot-up properly.  Upgrade to it seems OK.  I thought it must be the CF card, so I loaded an older backup image of pfSense onto this new CF card and it works perfectly. I also did a full format with 2-pass bad blocks verification and it all passed.

Can anyone check if the INSTALL image is broken?  I don't have a computer with a serial port at the moment to debug it, though….

      Thanks...

The default NICs on 2.2.x are no longer vrX so the NanoBSD images will give an interface assignment prompt on ALIX. You have to connect to the serial console to assign the NICs, it won't come up automatically. That was listed in the release notes.

Note that in 2.3 the factory defaults processing will automagically select from a range of physical interface combinations when first booting, avoiding the need to do interface assignment on the console for hardware like Alix, APU and SG-series devices…

That should be working now in 2.3-ALPHA images.
