      Newbie here,

Before I go through the install to the Hard drive, I need to know if I can assign my "PFsense box" to use 10.x.x.x addressing rather than the 192.168.x.x addresses shown in the tutorials/screengrabs.  I have a few devices that have static 10 net addresses that I would like to keep. Is it possible to have the "PFsense box" be 10.0.0.1 instead of 192.168.1.1?

Sure, either renumber it at the console before going to the GUI or change it in the initial setup wizard.
