Okay I have been searching for a couple of days now, and every thing I have read suggest that pfsense 2.2.6 should work with the The HP Ethernet 1Gb 4-port 331FLR Adapter (Broadcom 5719). However when running pfsense on my new home lab server, it does not recognize any adapter(s). Can someone confirm if in fact this adapter should be compatible?

      Thanks in advance
      Rob

Look up your adaptor in the FreeBSD hardware compatibility guide.
Links can be found by searching this forum or at freebsd.org

I have done that, and according (based on my understand of) to the link below the BCM5719 should be supported by FreeBSD 10.1, however it does not list this specific HP variant. Which causes me to wonder if the HP firmware causes incompatibility, or if I have some sort of hardware issue.

            Hi

Your HP 4-port 331FLR Adapter is most certain not realy "the same", as the meintioned adapters …

Apperantly, there were compatibility-issues with this card, have a look here (middle):
