Hi I want to build a new Pfsense box and came across this board with embedded Intel celeron cpu, it interested me cos it has passive cooler and is sold for around 50 euros, but the only think that I am not sure about is the celeron cpu 1.6ghz dual core turbo boost up to 2.16ghz here is the link

I have 100mbps down 6up internet and will run havp,squid3,squidgurd,snort,captive portal and maybe some other packages. Do you think this is a slow cpu and if not will it be good for higher internet speeds? as my isp will soon offer 500mbps

I have 100mbps down 6up internet
This would be able to handle for the CPU with ease.
and will run havp,squid3,squidgurd,snort,captive portal
This is than more likes a full featured UTM device and not a firewall only device.
I would personally more tend to go with the highest Intel Core i3 CPU with AES-NI
or a mid ranged Intel Core i5 CPU with AES-NI and on top 8 GB of RAM or more if
you could get it in.To handle this might be perhaps also not the real problem, but the entire throughput that comes
then out on your LAN side for your device, would be pending on the N3050 not really very much
then I would imagine.and maybe some other packages.
Then the Intel Core i5 or an Intel Xeon E3-12xx v3 would be nice, or a Intel Atom C2758 based
board would be fine to handle this amount of packets and gives you enough throughput.Do you think this is a slow cpu and
It is a new but lower end Atom cpu.
if not will it be good for higher internet speeds? as my isp will soon offer 500mbps
for a firewall only perhaps, but never with all the packets and enabled services.

Thank you so much for your info. Nice on the xeon ;D it should be a killer firewall with the specs you suggested :P
