Yesterday I tried to upgrade a Watchguard X700 from ver. 2.0.3 to 2.1 (2gb) via the GUI. This unit has been in service for about 6 months without a problem.  The upgrade seemed to go okay and the unit booted to 2.1 without a problem. However, during boot the unit hung at "synchronizing users" until I disconnected the interfaces. Once I got to the boot menu I was able to ping 4.2.2.2 but was unable to access the Web UI. The unit did not forward traffic and hung on reboot until I disconnected the interfaces. Where do I start troubleshooting?

Check the logs after it has booted, if it does boot.

        clog /var/log/system.log

Do you see 'file system full' errors? I assume this box has the default 256MB?

The easiest thing to do, by far, at this point would be to do clean 2.1 install You have a backup of the config file right?  ;)

Yep, I do have a backup. Will do the clean install, thanks.
