      Hello all,

Here's my issue… I live in a rural area and only have two options for an internet connection.

#1. WISP - Unlimited usage but slow and poor latency (1-2Mbps, 500ms+ ping times and packet loss during peak time)
#2. 4G LTE Router from my Cellular company - Fast and reliable (30+MB/sec under sub 50ms ping times) but has a tiny (10GB) data cap.

Is it possible to setup multi-wan in pfsense in such a way that things that need low latency but consume small amounts of data (voip, skype, online gaming, web page loading, etc) can be routed through the ISP #2 while things that don't need low latency but consume large amounts of data (large images, embedded videos, netflix. youtube, torrents, file downloads, etc) can be routed through ISP #1 that has unlimited data?

My goal is to keep my data cap usage on ISP #2 as low as possible but still be able to use realtime apps (especially my voip phones, skype, and online games) during primetime when ISP #1 always has latency and packet loss issues.

      Is this possible?

Perhaps I over complicated my question… here's a simpler version of my question...

Anyone know if it's possible to route certain protocols/ports to a particular WAN interface on a Multi-Wan setup using pfsense?

There are different things you can do.  You can create a gateway group and appt that to rules so that when wisp latency is low voip uses wisp,  when wisp latency is high you use cell service.  You will need to no more about destination information i.e. ip and or. Ports and create rules to use which ever gateway makes sense.  It is something you will have to play with!

That sounds ideal, thanks! I'll try to read up more on how to do that. :D

Just make sure to assign the gateway group to the rule!
