Went to try this package and got this:
Adding pfBlockerNG Widget to the Dashboard… done.

Creating DNSBL web server start-up script... done.
Custom commands completed ... done.
Executing custom_php_resync_config_command()...It's been here for 15 minutes.

Hi brianc69,
I haven't seen anyone report this before. Are there any errors in the pfSense system.log?
The pkg installer also writes to a logfile
/cf/conf/pkg_log_pfSense-pkg-pfBlockerNG.txt
Is the contents of that file the same as what was displayed in the pkg install window?
I just did an install to a test VM without any issues. Can you try a second install and see what happens?

As a follow up, I tested two consecutive installations without any issues (using the most recent 2.3 version)… Once you check the logs, we can diagnose it from there...

I just looked at the screen and it had finished. Very long time on that line I posted. Well over 15 minutes to complete.

Thats odd… On a fresh install, it should take a few seconds to complete that step. Could the box have been busy during that time?
I'm curious if a re-installation of the package will take that long? Maybe run a 'top' command while its re-installing...

I was going to ask, isn't that where it downloads the lists and what not? Don't recall off the top of my head. That can take quite some time on initial install if your connection isn't very fast, so might just be a matter of being impatient. I thought it gave some additional feedback on what it was doing when fetching the lists though.

On a fresh installation, there should be no configuration of Aliases/lists etc… So there should be really nothing for the code to do, except for adding of the Cron task etc...
I am not sure if brianc69 had previously installed the package and configured it without executing a 'force update' at which time on a re-installation, it would have download any lists that were defined/enabled and it could have taken some time for it to complete that part of the downloading as you suggested….
All downloading is logged to the pfblockerng.log file, and not the package installation window. Its a scenario that I never anticipated :)
Maybe brianc69 can shed some more details on the installation/configuration history of pfBlockerNG in this box and I might be able to add some additional logging to the package to account for this condition.

This was the first time I've looked at it. My connection is 15x1 so it should be pretty fast. I am also the only one in the house so traffic is minimal. I can try a reinstall and see what happens.

i found a small mistake..
"Custom Destination" needs a "Custom Source" in 'Advanced Outbound Firewall Rule Settings'.

Thanks for pointing that out… Copy/paste is sometimes a bad thing :) Will get that fixed in the next release ...
