      Hi,
I'm running a Netgate SG-4860 and recently upgraded to 2.3-RELEASE(amd64). Since then AutoConfigBackup has not worked (I'm a Gold member) and every time I make a configuration change I get an alert:

AutoConfigBackup - An error occurred while uploading your pfSense configuration to portal.pfsense.org (
      Authorization Required
This server could not verify that you are authorized to access the document requested. Either you supplied the wrong credentials (e.g., bad password), or your browser doesn't understand how to supply the credentials required.

I have checked the credentials and re-entered them. The same credentials work when I log into portal.pfsense.org directly.

Some other issues I've had which may or may not be related:

I cannot dismiss any of the notifications on the bell icon at the top. The first time I clicked on "Mark All as Read" It popped up a dialog box saying something like "Do you want" (the message seemed incomplete) and when I clicked confirm it did nothing. Since then I no longer get the dialogue and clicking the "Mark All as Read" button it silently fails. I no longer get the dialogue box.

On the dashboard, many of the dynamic update items seem "stuck": Under the system information widget the Version is stuck on "Obtaining update status", on the IPSec widget the overview is stuck on "Retrieving overview data", and so on.

Resetting the webconfigurator from the SSH menu (option 11) does not help. Nor does clearing the cache in my browser or even using a different browser (I'm using recent versions of Chrome and Firefox).

However, I did notice that some of these things started working again if I rebooted, but only temporarily.

      Any suggestions?

      Cheers,

      Keith

There is an issue with that button. Try clicking on the "Mark All as Read" text rather than the trashcan icon. Then you do not get the popup dialog, and (hopefully) the notices will dismiss.

The redmine issue is https://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/6104 and the fix will come in 2.3.1

Thanks for that. I do now see there is a difference between clicking on the trashcan icon and the text (silly me, I thought they were a single button).

However, neither of them actually seems to do anything for me. I still have 23 alerts and growing in the bell icon.

          Cheers,

          Keith

Not silly at all - the icon and text are supposed to work together as a single button, they just didn't.

However, neither of them actually seems to do anything for me. I still have 23 alerts and growing in the bell icon.

That's a shame. I just tried generating some alerts and then cleared them fine.
Is there anything in the system log that might give a clue what is going wrong with clearing the alerts?

              Nothing that I can see.

I suspect it's related to some of the other GUI issues I'm seeing which include the Status/Monitoring not loading graphs.

              Cheers,

              Keith

I've just rebooted the system again, and the alerts are gone and the dynamic parts of the webconfigurator (like the Monitoring graphs) are working again.

It's as if there is some back-end process that is used by the front-end AJAX which is dying for some reason. I'll keep any eye on it and see if I can see a pattern.

But the main problem is still that the AutoConfigBackup doesn't work.

                Cheers,

                Keith

OK, I see what has an impact. If I change the configuration (in my case a tweaked a firewall rule) then this seems to break the GUI for me from then on.

In the logs I see nothing specific to this breakage, but it may be a side effect of the AutoConfigBackup issue:

I'm going to try disabling AutoConfigBackup and see if that changes anything.

Yep, disabling autoconfigbackup seems to have solved the GUI issues.

OK, this has been partly solved - the ACB failure was down to a subscription issue which has now been sorted.

However, I still think there is a bug with the ACB module, in that if the ACB registration fails, it messes up the GUI in a major way until you reboot.

                        Cheers,

                        Keith
