If it's anything like my removed bandwidthd package, it looks like the installed files were already removed on upgrade, and you can edit a backup of the config.xml to remove references to the menu item and service, then restore the backup.

Actually you dont want to do that.

Probably one change to those instructions for upgrades.
You should still have everything in the configuration so no need to edit.
Just installing the packages and copying the files over (and possibly a reboot) should be enough. -
I finally made it work again after installing the package
usingpkg add http://pkg.freebsd.org/freebsd:10:x86:32/release_3/All/lcdproc-0.5.7_2.txz
everything looks normal but cant see LCD proc in Services

I too run a number of Xx50e boxes and have upgraded to the 2.3 version along with the most recent ntpd patch. It looks as tho the upgrade uninstalled all references to LCDproc and I would like to get the lcd's working again.
I did the pkg add http://pkg.freebsd.org/freebsd:10:x86:32/release_3/All/lcdproc-0.5.7_2.txz which looked to install successfully but the driver for the firebox lcd … i.e. Watchguard Firebox with SDEC looks to be missing from the /usr/local/lib/lcdproc directory. Is there a different one I should be using?
Thanks

Because the LCDproc pfSense package has not been converted for 2.3, there won't be any pfSense GUI pages to control it, and pfSense won't "know" about it.
