Loaded up a box with a fresh copy of 2.3, went to restore an alias list saved from a 2.2.x box and the restore options are pared way down. Is this just a thing going forward where you can't restore more selective portions of the config? I do full restores most of the time, but liked the ability to pull out and restore sections selectively. Especially the Aliases. I can dump the list, reformat it, and import it, but that's a bit more involved than clicking restore.

It seems to be looking at the current config for those selections.
Try creating an alias and then see if shows up in the restore options.

Excellent, thanks for the tip. Yes, if I create a bogus alias and save, I now get the option to restore an alias. Don't really like that behavior, but it's easy enough to work around once you know.

            It's a bug - see https://github.com/pfsense/pfsense/pull/2867 and
            Redmine issue https://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/6144

Try the very simple and confirm that it will work OK restoring an area that currently does not exist.

As the Greek philosopher Isosceles used to say, "There are 3 sides to every triangle."
