Assigned Interface (OPT1) DHCP not working correctly
-
I am a networking beginner and new to Pfsense. I am using a PC with an Intel quad port NIC. Here is my setup…
WAN <----- ISP Modem
LAN <----- 4 port Switch <------ PC,Printer, TV, Laptop
OPT1 <----- APThe problem that I am having is with the DHCP for an Access Point that I have assigned to OPT1.
Under OPT1 general configuration, I have the IPv4 Config Type set to DHCP. Everything else is left at default settings.In the Dashboard i can see that there is an uplink connection from the AP on that port (OPT1), but it doesnt get assigned an IP address. it doesnt matter if i connect another device like a laptop to that port, no IP Address. all I get is 0.0.0.0
Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong or if my settings are incorrect?Many Thanks,

Did you set a fixed IP to your AP? If yes check it is in the same subnet of OPT1. Otherwise set your AP to get IP from DHCP (set in OPT1).
I have a similar configuration.
WAN -> ADSL Modem
LAN -> PC and trusted Wired Clients
VPN -> NAS, Media Players
AP -> Guest Clients, iPads, iPhones ect etc.AP is on 192.168.2.0/24 and DHCP assign from 192.168.2.50 to .70, I also configured static lease. The AP, a Netgear R7000 has a fixed ip (192.168.2.2) and has NAT/DHCP disabled (factory AP Mode).

You are telling pfSense to obtain an address for the OPT1 interface from a DHCP server. What DHCP server is that?
One typically sets a static IP address on a router interface and enables a DHCP server on the same.
