      Hi,
I configure the pfsense with my 3G USB Modem which work really awesome!

But one question, where I can enable the data roaming if we need the box outside of germany?
I never tried it, but the day will coming I need this  ;)

That's up to your provider. There isn't anything in software that even knows whether you're roaming.

I don´t think so… in each mobile phone you can find a switch to enable/disable the roaming function.

In AT Commands of a diffrent modem I have found a string to enable/disable roaming

            System Config
            ^SYSCFG=mode, order, band, roaming, domain
            Mode
            2 Automatic search
            13 2G ONLY
            14 3G ONLY
            16 No change
            Order
            0 Automatic search
            1 2G first, then 3G
            2 3G first, then 2G
            3 No change
            Band
            80 GSM DCS systems
            100 Extended GSM 900
            200 Primary GSM 900
            200000 GSM PCS
            400000 WCDMA IMT 2000
            3FFFFFFF Any band
            40000000 No change of band
            Roaming
            0 Not supported
            1 Roaming is supported
            2 No change
            Domain
            0 CS_ONLY
            1 PS_ONLY
            2 CS_PS
            3 ANY
            4 No change

so I think there must be a peace of software to enable/disable it.

Yes that's the point, but the question is now no setting enable roaming per default?
With other words, the smartphones disable the roaming per default and you must switch it on?

                I don´t know… ;-(

Next week I will stay a few days in Belgium and when I find some time I will do some tests.

It can that you will get a "Roam" bit from your provider, and its up to you what you do with this information. So normaly your Hardware disables the Dataconnection when this bit is high.

                  13 2G ONLY
                  14 3G ONLY

There is also a switch for 2G/3G and my USB modem use if possible always 3G.
Maybe it is the same with the roaming…  :)

There is that flag in the hardware on some cards. Should be able to set that on a Windows or Mac client that runs your provider's software package then move the card over if that applies for yours.

Out of the box it doesn't work, try to set that flag with a smartphone and try it as soon as possible again.
Maybe somebody now the AT command to set that flag with the pfSense?
