Why are static DHCP leases always 'online'?
-
Hello.
I'm running latest and greatest, 2.3.1 version pfSense.
I've created a few static DHCP leases with fix IP addresses assigned and ARP table entries for each MAC and IP pairing.
I don't know if this is a problem, but when I check on the DHCP server status, see attached picture…the entries are always "online"
even when they are not.Is this normal behavior and can it be changed to reflect when they are actually online or offline. Also, can data usage be shown here as well instead of having to go into the firewall rules to see that?
Thanks, Jits

The only way it can tell whether a device is "active" is by the ARP table. If you're using static ARP, the IP is always in the ARP table.
