Hi guys… i'm on the same boat, no NRPE no check_mk , now my pfsense boxes are nagios hostile.

Having lived without munin support, now I cannot live without neither nagios nor munin

So I have halted 2.3 upgrade

Hope some devels could enhace monitoring capabilities of pfsense by adding some of this packages...

            Kind regards.

              I have the same problem.
Right now pfSense does not offer any sane monitoring method.

As far as I understand there is no support for nrpe, check_mk oder snmpv3.

Zabbix is not open source as far as I can tell.

              What other possibilities do exist?

Same here. Holding off update to 2.3 since Nagios checks are crucial in our environment. I try not to manually install any extras or packages that are not included since updating later on may brake any manual changes.

I hope someone, if not the original creator, will continue to develope NRPE further. It's been almost 3 years since last update.

Would also throw some coins in for a working NRPE package.

                  - pfSense Gold Subscriber -

                  Sense 1: Shuttle DS57U3 (private)
Sense 2: Supermicro Atom Barebone (Company Test)
                  Sense 3 : 2 x Supermicro SYS-5018D-FN8T (Company Office)

                    pfSense 2.3-RELEASE is FreeBSD 10.3-RELEASE

NRPE is quite old, but simple (and still working agent) package, is there a pfSense-way to install package from FreeBSD packet?

other way is; create own special package to pfSense…

I have also several small firewalls with pfSense 2.2.6 + NRPE connected to nagios...

                    Which way tooks longest future?

We also need this. Does anyone think that this is going to be addressed? We really like 2.3 but we have to stop deployment because of this/lack of.

It looks like it is being work on.

There is a pull request in the pfsense/FreeBSD-ports github with a bootstrapped package.

                            Hi

we ported the nrpe package a few weeks ago.
It is waiting to get pulled in the pfsense repo.

I will talk to to the pfsense developers next week about it.

@djzort thanks for the encouragement :)

The pull request just got merged by Chris.

It should show up in the package list soon.

I don't see it in available packages yet…

                                      pfSense 2.3.1

any action required to see it ?

                                        correction:

I was sure I had done the update from 2.3_1 to 2.3.1
but then I discovered it was still showing 2.3-RELEASE

after doing the firmware update to 2.3.1 again, now nrpe package is showing!
                                        thx!

got it working - thanks for the package!

                                          but there is one problem:
the input fields for the commands are too small to read them!

                                          see attached screenshot.
