I, too, am wondering about the 'nut' package and its conversion. We're anxiously awaiting a reply. Thanks.

Mea Culpa, I too missed NUT not being ready for 2.3, so I'm currently living without it.

Interestingly the hand-hacked UPS widget is still showing up on the dashboard, but obviously with no information in it.

An official UPS widget as part of the NUT package would be a very-nice-to-have…  8)

I can offer my APC Back-ups 550 and CyberPower 1000VA (both USB) for testing NUT builds?

Hey guys, I would suggest removing any installed packages before upgrading to 2.3. I had NUT, SNORT and the APC package installed when I upgraded and it had a number of issues since these packages left lingering unused files in the setup.

I will say, it is totally worth upgrading to 2.3 even though the UPS packages are still waiting to be ported forward. My network performance has improved quite a bit and 2.3 offers too many new features to list but I am enjoying the UUID error reporting the most. prior to 2.3, as you all know, if you had error or crashes, you had to dig for the cause. Now, 2.3 generates and uploads the crash reports so they can be resolved in future editions.

Anyhow, I have a huge APC Back-Ups 1300x running on my box so I too am looking for NUT to come back.

I do have concerns about NUT and they pertain to usefulness. NUT is strictly a monitoring package which is cool. Problem is, it does not address computer handling when on battery due to loss of power which is what the other package did. As you know, the other package is not getting ported forward. My concern is how useful will nut be if there is no software piece that control your pfsense box when on battery power. I'm hoping that these 2 packages will get combined at some point into 1 package.

This is incorrect.  NUT provides monitoring and shutdown configuration.  You get the default shutdown behavior if you don't make any changes to the packages configuration files.  I've run both NUT and APCUPSD on a linux instance previously, but I eneded up going with NUT because it easily configured in to a master/slave topology I needed as I have a couple of other systems attached to the same UPS as the pfSense box.

NUT  gave me no options for control when using the UPS I have. Which also when running nut only when I experienced a power outage, did nothing in terms of telling my box to shutdown at a specified battery level and my pfsense box ran until it drained the battery in my ups; drained it to 0% charge.

So for me, in my situation, nut was only a monitorring tool. APCUPSD if what gave me the control I need.

Yay! NUT is back and with a VERY nice widget! From 2.3.1, don't know if it was back ported.

                        Happy UPS NUT camper again!

Yes, my previous config showed up just fine and "just worked" impressive!

My only enhancement request would be to monitor more than one UPS, especially remotely.
