Services/DNS Resolver add host override with multiple ip addresses?
-
Is it possible to add a host that points to multiple IP's?
Seems the IP field only accepts one?
Thanks -

You can apparently add custom entries in your dnsmasq config, as mentioned in this previous post.

Look on the topic header. This advice is suitable for DNSmasq setup, not for Unbound DNS Resolver.

What is the use case for a fqdn that points to multiple different IPs? But sure you can kind of cheat and do it in the custom section.
server:
local-data: "host.example.com A 10.10.10.1"
local-data: "host.example.com A 10.10.10.2"
local-data: "host.example.com A 10.10.10.3"

Thanx for reply, johnpoz.
About multi-IPs use case: in my multi-wan setup I bound one instance of OpenVPN service to localhost interface and added corresponding records to NAT. So now I want to use one hostname that refers to several external interfaces of my ovpn server. -

Why would you be using anything that points to external IP of pfsense from inside your network? If external your public dns should have the records that point to your public wan IPs..

Just trying to simulate real behavior in my test environment. So when time comes to deploy config on real hardware I want to be sure everything is OK and workin as I supposed.
