Sudden onset of extremely high CPU usage… what gives?

Have a four core box and noticed recently the CPU usage meter on the dashboard was on or at 100% usage. Can anyone look at the attached table and make any sense of it? Was running fine all day and nothings changed

What's dnsthingymgr?
Those tr processes are chewing up all your CPUs. Nothing in our code runs tr, so I'm guessing it's that dnsthingymgr.

Hi Mothra, I'm from the DNSthingy team, our support team will certainly help to determine whether there is a CPU issue related to our software. But one thing I want to note is that it's normal when loading the pfSense web UI that the "CPU usage" gauge goes up to 100% until the next page refresh when it goes back to normal.
I get this all the time even without additional software installed.
If you let the dashboard page refresh after 10 seconds does the CPU level go back down?Thanks.

No, it stays right around 100% and never goes down… I can leave the page there and continuously watch the 10 second refresh and it will bounce between the high 90s to 100 on each refresh.

For the record we have found the source of this issue, some of the code that was written for a linux environment doesn't seem to run quite as well on freebsd so we'll issue an update for users asap. And Mothra as a preview-release early tester we will personally contact and verify with you that the fix is working.
Interestingly I didn't see this issue on my virtual machine.
