Any idea if this piece of hardware will be compatible with pfSense in the near future? For the moment its not. The WLE200VX is though.

As I am informed it is a WiFi ac miniPCIe card and ac isn´t supported at this time, if it will be in the
future or near future their will be an announcement I am pretty sure.

For the moment its not. The WLE200VX is though.

In the top line or head line you were asking about the WLE600VX and now
you are talking about the WLE200VX! is this a typo?

For the latest WiFi standard you will be better of an external WLAN AP.

Thanks for your reply Frank. I bought the WLE600VX, but I just wanted to mention that the WLE200VX seems to be supported following the forum. It's just for info.

            I bought the WLE600VX,

You can try it out with many fiddlings to get it working but not together with the WiFi ac, more with
the a/b/g/N perhaps!? Otherwise you could try out to get a small and cheap x86 box and then you
are the winner and together with DD-WRT or OpenWRT it might be then a real and fine WiFi AP.

Well…, many fiddlings there you said it ;D. I am not a Linux guru. I'm rather 'limited' when it comes to programming, logical thinking etc ;). And I’d like to stick to my setup.

I already have dd-wrt on my Linksys E3000. It’s working really fine and helped me a lot the last few years.  But now I want to have a grip on my network security and I added wifi so everything is in the same box.

              I went for this:
              https://shop.tronico.net/Embedded-Computer/PC-Engines/APU-Mainboards/APU-2B2-system-board.html
              https://shop.tronico.net/Steckkarten/miniPCI/Compex-WLE600VX-802-11-abgn-ac-2x2-MIMO.html

I have built it and updated the BIOS. It’s running one of the latest pfSense versions. But due to the problem with the WLE600VX not being compatible, my wifi is not working. I still could use the box just as a firewall though. But it’s a shame not to use the nice wlan card and the two big antenna’s I bought.

My plan is to keep my AP running (the dd-wrt Linksys E3000) and use the red box as a firewall with the hope that my wlan card might be supported in the near future…

I add a picture of the box.

that my wlan card might be supported in the near future…

Well known working wireless cards for pfSense
If this card will be a someday supported or the plain WiFi ac support was added you might be
trying out your card, but until this is not given you can only hope or change your card against
another one that is working well.
