      @heper:

      work has not been started on it OR it hasn't made it back into the public repo's.

      it'll get done when time permits i guess. i'm fairly certain there are/have been more pressing matters the last couple of days/weeks.

        I added a comment on that ntopng issue to see if there was any possibility of reinstating the existing version of ntopng as as package, rather than waiting for ntopng 2.3 to come out.

        The ntopng issue #297 on github is for integrating ntopng with pfSense I think, i.e. enabling firewall rules to leverage ntopng's packet inspection technologies.

        That's useful, but there's a lot of work in it I suspect.  The dependency issue which was preventing ntopng from compiling under FreeBSD has already been fixed I think.

            The thread on github for ntopng is here: https://github.com/ntop/ntopng/issues/297

            The thing that's holding up the show is the attempt to integrate pfSense and ntopng, ie adding a new feature that pfSense can use the DPI functionality within ntopng

            Apparently, the pfSense UI for ntopng has already been converted to bootstrap and the build issue has been fixed, which is all that's needed to get the ntopng package back on to pfSense.

            So, to answer your question, if the plan is to integrate, probably weeks or months.

            If the plan is just to get the package back on in the form it was on pfSense 2.2.x, hopefully days.

              afaik, pfSense will not take on ntopng as a custom port. It needs to go upstream into the freebsd repo's. (with or without the help of renato or other coredevs that have a commit-bit)
              once it is in the freebsd repo's, it'll automatically be pulled into the pfsense pkg repo's & then a GUI package can be made.

              so it could be months (or longer) away if ntop doesnt get into the right repo's

                  Ntopng has just been restored to the FreeBSD ports tree,  so hopefully it'll get picked up in the pfSense ports soon.

                      Ntopng is back in the pfSense ports tree. I can also see the pfSense package files for ntopng in the pfSense packages repo.  What still needs to be done to get ntopng back into pfSense please?

                        Currently there is no issue in redmine for it. I would guess that that's a better place to track progress but i am not sure. I asked around for it on IRC but that got me nowhere.

                          I've added a "todo" in pfSense packages.  https://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/6443
