      It seems that with version 2.1 the average person isn't able to create a developer ISO any more?

      I'm trying to add support for this USB dongle in the Kernel - is it possible to have someone else recompile a Kernel and then add it to a working system without re-creating the entire image?

      This is the device i'm trying to support.

      ugen5.2: <aircard 320u="" sierra="" wireless,="" incorporated="">at usbus5, cfg=0 md=HOST spd=HIGH (480Mbps) pwr=ON

      bLength = 0x0012
        bDescriptorType = 0x0001
        bcdUSB = 0x0200
        bDeviceClass = 0x0000
        bDeviceSubClass = 0x0000
        bDeviceProtocol = 0x0000
        bMaxPacketSize0 = 0x0040
        idVendor = 0x0f3d
        idProduct = 0x68aa
        bcdDevice = 0x0006
        iManufacturer = 0x0003  <sierra wireless,="" incorporated="">iProduct = 0x0002  <aircard 320u="">iSerialNumber = 0x0004  <357272041990387>
        bNumConfigurations = 0x0001</aircard></sierra></aircard>

        Firstly Sorry to bring this topic up again as I know it's quite old but after spending the last few hours scouring the internet, forums and google I have got to the same place as the original poster.

        I am trying to use exactly the same USB Telstra 4G dongle on my pfsense 2.1.5-RELEASE machine to no avail.

        I can issue this command to retrieve the following:

        $ usbconfig -u 7 -a 2 dump_device_desc
        ugen7.2: <aircard 320u="" sierra="" wireless,="" incorporated="">at usbus7, cfg=0 md=HOST spd=HIGH (480Mbps) pwr=ON

        bLength = 0x0012
          bDescriptorType = 0x0001
          bcdUSB = 0x0200
          bDeviceClass = 0x0000
          bDeviceSubClass = 0x0000
          bDeviceProtocol = 0x0000
          bMaxPacketSize0 = 0x0040
          idVendor = 0x0f3d
          idProduct = 0x68aa
          bcdDevice = 0x0006
          iManufacturer = 0x0003  <sierra wireless,="" incorporated="">iProduct = 0x0002  <aircard 320u="">iSerialNumber = 0x0004  <357272043023203>
          bNumConfigurations = 0x0001

        I have also tried numerous different options but i am unable to get it to work at all.

        Is there some way to get this USB dongle to work with pfsense 2.1.5 ?

        I have also read quite a bit here http://technotation.com/ which talks about recompiling using the above information etc but I can't do that with pfsense as far as I'm aware?

        Any assistance appreciated.

        Happy New Year all!</aircard></sierra></aircard>

          I'm guessing that'll work out of the box on 2.2 and it's at a stage where production use in most circumstances is fine. That'd be my only recommendation at this point, not worth trying to mess with on older versions.

            Thanks for the reply cmb, much appreciated.

            Oh well, the use of the dongle is not an urgent thing for me it was just to provide an emergency backup to my main firewall.  If successful I had plans to make a portable machine with it.

            I wasn't aware of the forums or timeline for 2.2 until now, I've been merrily using pfsense for a year or more without coming to the forums until now (I only updated to 2.1.5 yesterday :) ).

            Happy New Year all.

              Hi Guys

              Can anyone confirm that the Sierra 320u 4G Telstra USB Dongle is compatible with Pfsense 2.2.6?

              Thanks
