Your iso-Files probably are zip-Files! :-(
-
Hello
I've just downloaded pfSense-CE-2.3.1-RELEASE-amd64.iso from your website - and always got boot error.
Then I've opened pfSense-CE-2.3.1-RELEASE-amd64.iso with WinRar and noted that in fact, its NOT an iso File, but it contains an iso-File.
Therefore, your 'iso'Files should be called like
pfSense-CE-2.3.1-RELEASE-amd64.iso.zip
or
pfSense-CE-2.3.1-RELEASE-amd64.zip
So it will be clear that downloaded files have to be uncompressed.
This is a pretty annoying bug.Kind regards,
Tom -
the files are iso.gz which already shows its gzipped… Now sure where you downloaded a .iso only file??
-
Files I can find end with .ISO.GZ
A regular gzip file …

I'd say your problem is with Windows hiding the extensions by default and thereby causing misunderstandings about the filetype.

^ yeah this is prob the case.. One of the worst things MS ever did. First thing I turn off any time I ever have to login to a windows machine.

You may find this useful:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hide-file-name-extensionsEven so, Windows file explorer (by default) still lists the file type column.
Also I think it only hides known file types. So if it's unknown and can't list it in the type column then the extension should be displayed.
Extensions not hidden here because it's difficult to rename to a different extension when they are hidden.
