      I already had a N3150 mini-box running with pfsense @work
the only problem is the realtek nic … bad throughput and packet lost

now, i am going to buy another one @home and found this:
      i3 4010u @haswell aes-ni
      2x intel Gb nic @82574L
      4gb ddr3 1333
      16gb SSD
      cost $180

      any advise?

should be able to adjust the system tunables in settings to deal with any packet loss due to realtek nics.

            Do you have a link?

Seems like a good box for 180.

              yes, max 8GB
              but 4GB is not enough?

i never saw my old box used more than that …

so realtek nic is not a problem on pfsense(freebsd)?

                iperf3 test:
tcp: 298 Mbps (people said should reach 900Mbps with intel nic)
                udp: 1.14Gbps with 23% datagrama lost …

but with i3 4010u which costs half of the i7's price
                  and they are heavy, ~ 1.5kg …

6-8gb if good if you plan to run squid+suidguard

Yes but together with 8 GB RAM you will be able to high up the mbuf size if
this is needed and then you will be having much free space or amount of RAM
                      for other things such like;

                      • Squid default RAM usage high up
                      • more RAM for heavily traffic and VPN sessions
                      • running Snort or Suricata and they need (eats) also some RAM

Much RAM can´t be wrong if a small amount is enough and since you will be able
to high up the mbuf size to 1000000 you will never end up in a booting loop based
                      on to less RAM inside.
