I have a Fujitsu Futro S900 Thin Client with the following specs :

      1.2GHz T44R CPU
      2Gb DDR3 Ram
      64Gb SSD

This SSD is connected on the Sata port on the motherboard.
When i install pfSense 2.3.1 from a USB stick (loaded with pfSense-CE-memstick-2.3.1-RELEASE-i386),
and choose Quick Install or Custom Install, the installation completes without any error.
But after removing the USB stick, and letting pfSense start, it shows for a few seconds the bootmenu

      F1 pfSense
      F6 pxe

And then reboots, for showing again the bootmenu and reboots again etc…..
It keeps stuck in een reboot loop.

When i plug the SSD in a external USB 3.0 2.5" enclosure, and connect it with on a USB port,
and perform a new install, it then boots normal in pfSense when i removed the USB stick.
After booting up, pfSense starts with the setup for assigning interfaces etc....
After this setup is completed, and shutdown the firewall, and connects the SSD back to the internal Sata port,
      it boots normal.

      I have als tried pfSense 2.3 , 3 different SSD's,
also sets AHCI to native IDE and disabled all advanced cpu features in the BIOS,
nothing will work for preventing the reboot loop when the SSD was connected on the internal Sata port during install.
The only thing that works, is installation as a external SSD, and after that connecting it back to the internal Sata port.

What can cause this strange behavior ?

      Thanks in advance

Isn't that CPU 64-bit? Why not run amd64?

          Yes, this CPU is 64Bit.
The 64Bit i have not tried yet.
But i will, and come back with the results.

With the 64Bit version of pfSense it works like a charm.
Thank you for the tip, you nailed it ;-)
