Adding a tp-link wireless pcie card ac1900
-
Hi guys,
I'm trying to add a pcie card to my pfsense hardware, the whole thing sits on an AMD platform with athlon CPU.
I'm not sure if the system is even detecting the card, I don't see it as an interface in wireless
This is the card: https://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-Archer-T9E-Beamforming-Low-profile/dp/B00TQEX7AQ
This is a readable pciconf:
none1@pci0:3:0:0: class=0x028000 card=0x061914e4 chip=0x43a014e4 rev=0x03 hdr=0x00

device = 'BCM4360 802.11ac Wireless Network Adapter'

ecap 0002[160] = VC 1 max VC0
ecap 0018[1b0] = LTR 1
ecap 0015[220] = Resizable BAR 1UPDATE:
Initially I wasn't able to find the card, but here it is…Anyone have an advice for me on why it is not showing up in wireless?
Thanks.

FreeBSD does not support 802.11ac.
Whether it can run in 802.11n mode or maybe it is completely unsupported, I don't know.

I purchased the exact same card a while back when I got all new hardware to build a state of the art PF box. Should have done my homework beforehand. Now I wait with the card in the PCIe slot, checking every couple months for a new update to pfsense/FreeBSD that brings AC1900 support! T_T
Unfortunately the idea around here is 'wireless sucks, get an AP'

Yeah… WiFi tends to require proprietary drivers unavailable to FreeBSD.
