Hi, I am looking into building a new pfSense box and I have all the hardware but the nic… I am currently look at this:
      http://www.amazon.com/Intel-PWLA8494MT-1000-Server-Adapter/dp/B00008PX2M/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1388825495&sr=8-9

Mainly because it is so cheap and it's intel. My main concern is it was released in like 2005 and I was just wondering if it is still a good card to use now in 2014. Will it lack performance due to it's old age? Any feedback on what NIC I should get would be appreciated.

Note that this is a PCI-X card, so it won't actually fit into modern PCIe-based mainboards.
