Hardware advice
-
Hi, i'm new here! Been lurking for a while. Looking to upgrade my WNDR4500 which is currently running DDWRT
I have a bunch of startup scripts that take a while to process 45min to an hour after router rebooot. I would like something with a bit more grunt in hardware. After researching for a while i was gonna pull the trigger and grab one of those Qotoms J1900 from Amazon but i've learned now it's been replaced by a 3215UCPU which is not as powerful? My network for now is only 10/1 but that will change soon with about 6+ connected devices
Couple of VPN connected machines
Adblocking
Squid
Evenetually i plan to add a NAS machine to network but for now it's just a transfer between the network pc'sWill 3215U CPU be enough? Any advice will be helpfull, thanks guys. Is there a seller that still sells QOTOM J1900 S02 since i plan to stick a 2.5' hdd in it

There's nothing wrong with the j1900 platform. It's still very capable, it just lacks native EAS-NI which only matters if you plan on VPN access.
There are several build threads using the j1900, read up a bit and you'll see.

I'd love to grab j1900 qotom s02 box but it's been replaced with intel 3215U or is it still possible to grab qotom j1900 from somewhere?

2 NIC version
https://www.amazon.com/Barebone-system-support-Support-Windows/dp/B016W1YVC8
4 NIC version
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019Z8T9J0/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_4?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A14HQ326MGQ4AS
Thanks Jailer, look i might go with something like ZOTAC ZBOX C with N3150 CPU. It has AES-ni but only 2 nic ports, which shouldn't be a problem since i can add a switch to it, right? It's also 30$ cheaper on amazon.

Those cheaper boxes (as well as the 2 NIC box I linked to) have realtek LAN's. That' something to consider when making a purchase. Me personally I won't own anything with realtek LAN's, it's Intel only for me.
A switch with vlan capabilities may be useful if you need more than one LAN subnet and only have 2 NIC's on your router.

Well i ended up going with ZBOX CI323 nano, N3150 CPU, 16GB RAM and 850 EVO 250GB. I'l be adding http://www.tp-link.com.au/products/details/cat-40_TL-SG2210P.html switch to it and chucking into a server rack, which i'm shopping for now, I'm thinking at least 9RU? So i can chuck a NAS into it later. Oddly now the ZBOX i bought off Amazon does not ship to Australia anymore? Strange..

Is it a 2 lan Intel based ethernet? As Amazon UK has it for a really good price.

In my LAN there are three smart TVs (used mainly for Netflix), three computers and a dozen wi-fi devices.
I have a fiber connection 100/100.
I bought a miniPC with the N3150 CPU, 8GB RAM and two Realtek Nics.
I'm really satisfied because it's capable to run snort, pfBlocker and a couple of OpenVpn clients smooth as silk.
And in five months I haven't seen a single packet loss. -
Package arrived today but I'm not home. Yes specs say 2 Realtek NICS
