2.1 i386 fails install / AMD64 ISO damaged

I'm so happy with my 1.2 setup, it's great and has a massive amount of uptime. It's just great. But I want some features in 2.1
Wow, this has been nothing but a pain to install. Downloaded the i386 version to put in a PC I had laying around. That failed around 35%, same as everyone here: http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php?topic=61799.0
So I grabbed a different PC, different manufacture, different internals. Same issue during install. This PC is 64-bit capable AMD x2 so I downloaded the 64-bit version. I don't know if the ISO download is damaged or what, but after two downloads and 4 burned cds from different vendors, none of the AMD64 discs will boot. In fact they all lock up the boot process of any machine I have them in.
Tried a 3rd machine that is a C2D and all of the same happens with i386 or the AMD64 install disks.
What happened to PFSense?

Difficult to say from the lack of detail, but the images themselves aren't a problem for most people. There can be some issues on certain hardware with the boot drive having an IRQ conflict with a NIC that causes issues (especially bad with USB CD/DVD drives)

What happened to PFSense?
i have been using this install method for over a year now, and it works fine:
1. get 4GB usb flash drive (the ones that are super tiny are cool, here or here)
2. decompress pfSense-2.1-RELEASE-4g-amd64-nanobsd.img.gz for serial, or pfSense-2.1-RELEASE-4g-amd64-nanobsd_vga.img.gz for video card output
3. restore the img to the flash drive (using dd or win32diskimager)
4. boot from flash drive -
Yeah this morning I gave up on CDs and did the USB image. Installed perfectly first try.
