PfSense crashes after large file/data transfer
-
I have SG-2440 and when I try to do
scp * root@otherdeviceInMyNetwork:/share/data/test/On my workstation, my eth0 dies and says that cable disconnected and pfsense becomes unresponsive. I have to unplug/plug the power cord to get it working again. I have latest firmware.
It also happens on SMB transfer.P.S. I don't have ANY packages installed
Please advise

If you're not transmitting data across subnets in your network, then pfSense has nothing to do with this since you're not traversing the pfSense router/firewall. I'd suspect the switch, presuming that your workstation and your pfSense box are connected to the same ethernet switch.

I'm sending from OPT1 to OPT2 in SG-2440, nothing else is in middle.

I did some more test, I re-installed latest stable version from USB, still, as soon as I move big files across two interfaces, everything freezes, LAN connections drop and even console!!! freezes.
To reproduce, just get a SG-2440, do SMB or SCP transfer of a big file. First of all it won't exceed 80mbps, second, it will freeze/crash.

You seem to be making a lot of global assumptions based on your sample size of one.
I run an SG-2440 here and can assure you no such malfunctions occur despite two active WANs and one active LAN with, I don't know, maybe a dozen VLANs on it. It can certainly transfer more than 80Mbit/s. Maybe you have an issue in your specific environment.
Have you kept a serial console session active while you test? Does it show anything when it happens that might not be logged? Is there anything interesting in the system log when it happens?

This is happening right now with fresh install. When I'm moving files from a device connected directly to OPT1 to another device connected at OPT2, I get 80mbps MAX. Using SCP and SMB. Both same.
Also it freezes after around 4-5GB transfer. It just freezes. Yes. I have console port connected all the time. When freeze happens, console freezes too. I have to remove power cord and put it back again to get it working.
Regarding system logs, didn't see much. But if you know of a certain file, I can take a look or even attach it here. -
Why aren't you running factory?
Have you done this for your igb NICs?
