      Hi witch cpu would be right for the job a duo core or quad core for pfsense using vpn, snort and antivirus if im not mistaken vpn is better with more but im not to sure.

        Intel E8400 or E8500 it is good till 200 Mbps OVPN and will take ~65 W.

          Any recommendations on newer chips like the 1150/1151.2011 as theirs not much for used pc being sold were i am and buying that chip new is the price of  a 1151.

            You're right, OpenVPN it's not scalable so is better to have a multi-core CPU.
