Etc/ timezones do not work :(
-
If I select an Etc timezone at install time (or change to an Etc timezone in the web interface), I get a wrong time shown by the date command and in the pfsense web ui for logs. If I switch to a named city within that same zone, everything works. Rebooting does not change this.

"Wrong time" how? Remember the ETC time zones won't have DST.
Always used geographically named time zones. I thought we filtered out those etc ones, perhaps we don't anymore. They're not worth bothering with when the geographic ones are better.

They're hours wrong, more than DSTs worth.

I haven't heard of them being hours off before, but we don't manage that TZ data. It comes straight from FreeBSD. Same advice above applies, though. Stick to the geographic zones and you'll be fine.

Okay. Should I file a bug for hiding the Etc zones from pfSense?
