dual- 4x Broadcom NIC's
dual -power supplies with 3 banks(9U) of APC's
PFSENSE 2.1 AMD64 version.
3 separate ISP's with 55mbps-80mbps

seams like 2.1 needs a mandatory default gateway so I made it wan1 and then disabled it and my multiwan started working again.

8x Broadcom 5709 nics
2x Broadcom 5708 nics (builtin)

I setup multi-wan so my hotel guests can benefit from insane internet speeds. and my critical CC processing and etc can benefit from multiple connections (some of them go down! imagine that?!)

obviously this machine is massive overkill. but it performs way better then "what-in-theory" should have performed just as good. I was running an OptiPlex 755 with 1 quad nic and had lots of connections stop responding. packetdrop, spats of 100%cpu with latency to match. (e4500 C2D)

took me 60-80 hours of reinstalling, over 4 months, tuning, reinstalling and fiddling etc to finally hone in on what I need.
not to mention 2-5 hours of pure rage.    hahaha

I have a massive extended-wan network (12 acrers of AP's and many PtP & PtMP links with more AP's miles away) and this is the missing link for my network.

Nice. Glad you worked through the rage!  ;)

Interesting what you say about the default gateway. As far as I can remeber I've always had a default gateway in my multiwan setup and it's never been a problem.

It seems you got an aggregated (2 WANs togethers) speed on that speedtest. How did you get it to combine 2 WAN into one? Last I knew pfSense could do multi-WAN but only in sequence for load balance.. first connection to 1st WAN, second connection to 2nd WAN, third connection back to 1st WAN and so on.

The Speedtest.net web client uses multiple connections. I can't remeber the details of hand but I think it varies depending on the bandwidth available, defaults to 4?  Anyway at least 2.  ;)

I simply dont get why you need that kind of hardware to the small traffic load that you see on the system…. ??

All my clients see this from their virtual desktop and VPS'.
